The Portable Herb Press
One
important thing to
understand about using the formulas in the Tincture Calculator is that
you will need an herb press to get substantial amounts of tincture.
These mixtures are very dry compared to typical tinctures. This is what
makes them so potent. You are only using enough menstruum to get the
greatest concentration of herb into the alcohol. If you follow the
misguided "rule" of adding menstruum until your herb is fully covered,
some of your tinctures will be fine and others will be quite dilute.
The Portable Herb
Press
was designed to be simple and effective. You won't have to deal with
heavy hydraulic car jacks that may leak, or electrical cords. Also,
the 1 liter press has a quick release c-clamp so you
only crank at the start or finish with a few turns!
The 1 liter model has a heavy duty stainless steel canister, 6" quick release c-clamp and wooden stand. The 2 and 3.5 liter models have a heavy duty stainless steel canister, 8" standard c-clamp and wooden stand. All of the presses have an added 3 mm stainless steel reinforced bottom and stainless steel plunger heads so your tincture is only exposed to stainless steel.
The 1 liter Herb Press (right) has a precision fit housing for the screw shaft to fit snug into the piston. This design allows much more control and stability as the piston presses the menstruum. Also, we include a free copy of the Tincture Calculator Lite.
